How we compare products

We want you to trust our comparisons, so here is exactly how we put them together.

1. Choosing what to compare

We start with the products that are actually on sale from major retailers in Ireland and the UK, focusing on current models and well-reviewed previous-generation models that are still widely available at a good price.

2. Research

We collect specifications from manufacturers' official websites and retailer listings, and we read professional reviews and owner feedback to understand real-world strengths and weaknesses such as battery life, build quality and software support.

Important: our comparisons are research-based. Unless a guide says otherwise, we have not tested every product hands-on ourselves. When we do test a product, we'll say so clearly in the write-up.

3. The a2z score

Each product receives an a2z score out of 10, reflecting how well it serves the buyer it's designed for. We weigh performance, display, battery life, build, features, software support and value compared with similar products in the same guide. Scores are comparable within a guide rather than across different product categories.

4. Prices

We don't display prices, because they change daily and differ between retailers. Instead we link you directly to retailers so you always see the current price. Where we mention a price band (Budget, Mid-range, Premium), it is a general guide only.

5. Keeping guides up to date

We review our guides regularly and whenever important new products launch. The "Updated" date at the top of each guide shows when it was last reviewed. Specifications can vary by region and configuration, so always check the retailer listing before buying.
