How we compare products

Every comparison on a2zcheck follows the same method, so you know where the information comes from.

1. Choosing products

We pick products that are currently on sale in Ireland, the UK and the rest of Europe, covering a range of budgets. Each one earns its place for a clear reason, such as best value, best for gaming, or best for wide feet.

2. Checking specifications

The manufacturer's own website is our primary source, because the manufacturer knows its product best. Where the manufacturer leaves something out, we may use the figure a major retailer publishes for that product, and we say so under the product. We don't publish other people's test results, scores or awards. Specifications can differ between regions and model years; always confirm the exact model on the retailer's page before buying.

3. Writing the comparison

The comparison table comes first so you can scan the differences quickly. Detailed write-ups follow, in our own words, with honest pros and cons.

4. Prices

Prices change daily, so each product has a price band (budget to premium) and links to retailers where you can check today's price. Where a shop button shows a price, it is the price we saw on that shop's own website within the last 10 days; it may have changed since, and the shop's price at checkout always applies.

5. Keeping pages current

Each page shows the date it was last checked. We update pages when new models launch or specifications change. Spotted a mistake? Tell us and we'll fix it.
