Full review
The Apple Watch Series 11 is a superb present, but only for someone with an iPhone. It must be paired with an iPhone 11 or newer running iOS 26 or later, and it does not work with Android phones at all, so check before you buy.
For the right person it does a great deal. It tracks workouts, steps, heart rate and sleep, gives a nightly sleep score, and can alert the wearer to possible irregular heart rhythms and signs of high blood pressure, as well as taking an ECG. Messages, calls and payments work from the wrist. Apple quotes up to 24 hours of normal use, or 38 hours in Low Power Mode, and a fast charge to about 80 per cent in half an hour.
Sizing is the main gift puzzle. The 42mm case suits smaller wrists and the 46mm larger ones, and the Sport Band comes in S/M or M/L lengths, so a gift receipt is wise. The box includes a USB-C charging cable but no plug.
If the person uses an Android phone, a Garmin or Samsung watch is the better choice.
