Nothing Phone (4b) review

Full review

The Nothing Phone (4b) is the simplest way into Nothing's world of clean software and distinctive design, and at £299 it undercuts most of this list. It is a good choice for someone who wants a smooth, reliable phone for everyday use without paying for extras they will not use.

The 6.77-inch Super AMOLED screen refreshes at 120Hz and looks vivid for video. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 chip with 8GB of RAM handles social apps, streaming and light games comfortably. Nothing OS is one of the cleanest versions of Android, with no adverts or pre-installed junk, and Nothing promises three years of Android updates and six years of security patches.

On the back there is a 50MP main camera with optical stabilisation, which helps in low light, and a 12MP ultrawide. The 5,200 mAh battery is large and is a good size for a full day of use, though 33W charging is slow next to OnePlus or Xiaomi.

The UK version only comes with 128GB of storage and there is no memory card slot, so heavy photo-takers should look at the Phone (4a) or Nord CE 5 instead. At 210 g it is also heavier than you might expect.
