Saucony Ride 19 review

Full review

The Ride has been Saucony's default recommendation for years: a neutral shoe with enough cushion for long runs and enough pep for steady paces. The 19th edition uses a reformulated PWRRUN+ foam that Saucony says gives plusher cushioning and more energy return, plus extra flex grooves and a tougher forefoot.

Saucony lists the men's shoe at 255 g with a 36 mm heel, 28 mm forefoot and an 8 mm drop. At 255 g this is a sturdy trainer rather than a featherweight one.

The engineered mesh stretches to hold the foot without pressure points, and the heel collar is well padded. The stable feel and durable rubber suit steady training, though the weight and firmer midsole mean it is less lively than lighter shoes.

If you want one shoe for easy runs, long runs and the occasional faster session, this is the safest Saucony pick. A Wide version is sold, though availability depends on the market.
