The Le Pliage Original M tote is the entry point to Longchamp's best-known line. The body is recycled polyamide canvas with an inside coating, trimmed with Russian leather (cowhide) and finished with gold-colour metal hardware. It measures 11 x 10.4 x 6.1 inches and is unlined, so the coated canvas is what you see on the inside.

It closes with a zip and a snap button, which helps if you carry it over your shoulder on public transport. Longchamp lists a handle height of 21 cm (8.3 in), long enough to carry on the shoulder, and does not give a separate drop figure. Inside are two flat pockets, and the brand says it fits an 11-inch tablet, so a laptop will not go in.

The canvas is thin and light, which is the appeal of the Le Pliage family, and the brand's pages for this style do not give a weight. They also do not say where this model is made, so we have left that out rather than assume.

If you need more room, Longchamp's L tote of the same range is listed at 12.2 x 11.8 x 7.5 inches with a 25 cm handle height and fits a 13-inch laptop, according to the brand. We have not compared the two beyond that listing.
