Ohana is known for good-value solid-wood ukuleles, and the 35G series is its all-solid mahogany range. The CK-35GCE is the concert model with a cutaway and on-board active pickup, which makes it a strong choice if you play in a ukulele club, at open mics or want to record.

All-solid construction means the top, back and sides are single pieces of mahogany rather than laminate. Solid wood vibrates more freely, giving a warmer, richer and louder sound that tends to open up with playing. Ohana adds a bone nut and saddle, deluxe open-gear tuners and Aquila strings, finished in gloss with dark rosewood binding.

The 15 inch concert scale is comfortable for most adults, and there are 19 frets, 14 clear of the body, with the cutaway giving easier access to the upper ones. World of Ukes lists the pickup as a Belcat active preamp with volume, tone and a built-in tuner.

No bag or case is included, so budget for one. If you do not need to plug in, the acoustic CK-35G costs less, and Ohana also makes a left-handed CK-35GCE.
