AEG 7000 ProSteam AutoDose LFR74944AD 9kg review

Full review

The LFR74944AD is AEG's 7000-series machine with AutoDose, which stores detergent and softener and doses each wash automatically. AEG claims up to 60 per cent less detergent in its own test, so treat that as a best case, but auto-dosing does stop the common habit of overdosing.

AEG's UK page, Euronics and Atlantic Electrics agree on energy class A, 49 kWh per 100 Eco cycles and a 75 dB(A) spin (noise class B). Atlantic lists 46 litres of water per cycle. ProSteam can be added to a wash or run on its own as a 25-minute Steam Refresh that uses about 2 litres of water to freshen and relax creases. A 20-minute programme handles 3 kg, and MixLoad 69 min washes mixed fabrics at 30°C. You can control it from AEG's phone app.

Inside is a 69-litre stainless drum and AEG's Inverter Motor+. AEG lists five years of warranty, matching Bosch's offer.

It is louder on spin than the Bosch, Samsung or Miele, and at up to 660 mm deep it needs more room in front of the worktop than slimmer machines. If auto-dosing matters to you, this costs a good deal less than the Miele.
