Nike Quest 7 review

Full review

Not every runner needs an expensive shoe, and the Quest 7 is the sensible Nike for people starting out or running a couple of times a week. It sits at the bottom of Nike's road range on price, yet it still has a proper running layout: a foam midsole, a rubber outsole and a breathable mesh upper.

For this version Nike swapped in Cushlon 3.0 foam for a springier feel underfoot, and gave the forefoot a little more space so the toes can spread. The two-tone engineered mesh upper is light, and the rubber outsole is meant to hold up on pavement. Nike quotes about 280 g for a men's US 10 with a 10 mm drop, which is lighter than the Pegasus or Vomero, though the size reference is different so do not compare the numbers too literally.

The trade-off is cushioning. There is no ZoomX or Air Zoom here, so the ride is plainer and it will feel less protective on long runs than the shoes above. It is a good fit for 5 km practice, treadmill sessions, gym days and walking.

If you are unsure how much running you will do, buying the Quest 7 first is a low-risk way to find out.
