PUMA x HYROX Velocity NITRO 5 review

Full review

HYROX is a fitness race that mixes running with gym stations, and Puma's collaboration shoes are made for that blend. The Velocity Nitro 5 in this range is described by Puma as a training shoe for daily runs or workouts, with a smooth ride, grip that will not quit and cushioned landings from short runs to hybrid workouts.

The midsole is NITROFOAM, Puma's nitrogen-injected foam that it says gives lightweight responsiveness and cushioning. The outsole is PUMAGRIP performance rubber, designed for traction on all surfaces, and the upper includes at least 30% recycled materials. Laces, a flat heel type and regular width complete the specification.

What Puma does not give on the product page is weight, stack height or drop, so we cannot compare those numbers with the other shoes here. We list them as not stated rather than guessing.

It is best seen as a versatile shoe for people who split their week between running and gym classes, rather than a pure runner's shoe. If you only run, the Deviate Pure Nitro is the better-documented choice. If you do circuits, cardio and short road runs in the same pair, this is the one to try on.
