The 65 Z has been Yonex's middle-of-the-range flagship for years, and the fourth generation keeps the formula: a Power Cushion+ wedge in the heel to soften landings, Feather Bounce Foam through the midsole, and a graphite sheet underfoot that resists twisting when you push back from a deep lunge. The upper mixes synthetic leather with Double Raschel Mesh, so it feels supportive without being stiff.
Its biggest strength is choice. Yonex makes it in men's, women's, Slim and Wide versions, which means far more players can get a proper fit than with most rivals. That matters, because the standard men's shoe runs narrow; Yonex UK itself recommends going up a size.
There is one thing to know before buying. In 2025 Yonex paused sales after some pairs made between December 2024 and March 2025 developed surface damage to the upper after about a month. Yonex says it changed the manufacturing process and materials and restarted shipments in spring 2026. If you buy discounted older stock, ask the retailer when it was made, and keep your receipt.
If you play two or three times a week and want one shoe that does everything well, this is still the safe pick.
