Full review

The Adios Pro 5 is adidas's top marathon shoe and arrived in September 2026. It drops the carbon EnergyRods of the Pro 4 and instead uses carbon-infused EnergyRims that wrap around the edge of the midsole. That leaves more room for soft foam directly underfoot: Lightstrike Pro, in a PEBA layer on top with an ATPU layer underneath.

The result is a very light shoe. Running Warehouse lists 170 g for a men's US 9, and adidas says the Lightlock 2.0 upper is a one-way stretch textile designed for a snug fit. A Lighttraxion outsole with a Continental rubber toe section keeps weight down while adding grip.

As a design, it is aimed squarely at race day. adidas describes a regular fit that runs true to size, and it comes in a standard width only, so runners with wider feet should try it first.

This is a specialist shoe for race day and key sessions, not everyday running, and it is one of the most expensive running shoes on sale. If you are chasing a marathon or half-marathon personal best, it is a top contender. Most runners will get more value from a daily trainer.
