Kiprun is Decathlon's running brand, and its shoes have become a popular choice for budget-conscious runners across Ireland, the UK and Europe. The Kipcore Premium is the upgraded version of the standard Kipcore and replaces the old Kiprun Cushion 500 Premium.

Kiprun lists a weight of 272 g in a UK 8, an 8 mm drop and Softech foam with a cushioning level it describes as balanced. It is a neutral shoe with no pronation-control features. Kiprun recommends it for daily road training and distances from 5 km to the half marathon, and says it has 9% more cushioning and 10% more responsiveness than the standard Kipcore.

That makes it a sensible first proper running shoe for a Couch to 5K programme or parkrun, and a cheap second pair for experienced runners. On paper it will not match the foam technology of the Novablast 6 or the plush comfort of the Gel-Nimbus 28, and the performance figures are Kiprun's own claims.

The big advantage is that you can try it on in a Decathlon store before buying, which is the best way to choose any running shoe.
