The Gel-Nimbus is ASICS's most cushioned everyday shoe, built for comfort over long distances. The Gel-Nimbus 28 arrived around the turn of 2026 with an FF Blast Plus foam midsole, a soft PureGEL insert in the heel and a tall stack of 43.5 mm at the heel and 35.5 mm at the forefoot for men, with an 8 mm drop.

Despite all that foam, ASICS says it has cut 20 to 25 grams from the previous version. One ASICS product page lists 281 g for the men's shoe. The midsole is wide and has raised sidewalls, which should give a stable base even though it is a neutral shoe.

What it is not designed to do is feel fast. ASICS positions it for easy runs, recovery days, long weekend runs and walking, so it suits runners who simply want maximum comfort. The upper is an engineered knit, and ASICS offers Wide and Extra Wide versions.

It is one of the pricier daily shoes here. If you mainly want comfort mile after mile, though, it is one of the strongest options for the job.
