Full review
The Editor One FE is about simplicity. Instead of a chain and derailleur, it uses a Gates carbon belt drive with a single gear. Belts do not rust, need no oil, will not leave grease on your trousers and typically last far longer than chains. Combined with a dynamo hub that powers the front and rear lights whenever you pedal, it is a bike you can ride daily with almost no upkeep.
Cube also fits full-length mudguards, a 25 kg rack, a kickstand and a bell, and the 55 mm Schwalbe Road Cruiser tyres smooth out cobbles and potholes. A carbon fork with a thru-axle keeps the steering precise. Cube's listed weight is 14.52 kg, heavier than the unequipped bikes here but not surprising with all that kit.
The obvious limit is the single gear. On flat routes it is liberating; on steep hills you will be out of the saddle or walking. It makes a superb town bike as long as your area is not hilly. If you like the idea but have hills, Cube's Editor Pro FE adds an eight-speed hub gear for more money.
