Hisense A5S 32" QLED (32A5STUK) review

Full review

The A5S is a budget QLED that covers every common way of receiving TV. The retailer listing shows DVB-T2, DVB-S2 and DVB-C tuners, so it works with a terrestrial aerial, a satellite dish or a cable service without extra boxes. That flexibility is useful in a bedroom, holiday home or caravan where you do not know in advance how the signal will arrive.

The panel is a 32-inch Full HD QLED with a Direct-LED backlight and a 60 Hz native refresh. The listing quotes a 1200:1 typical contrast ratio, which is modest, so do not expect deep blacks. HDR is limited to HDR10 and HLG. The speakers are rated at 14 W RMS with Dolby and DTS decoding, which makes it one of the louder sets in this group.

The weaker points are the connections and platform details. There are two HDMI ports and they are listed as HDMI 1.4, so this is not a gaming TV. VIDAA is the smart platform, and the listing does not mention voice assistant support. As a simple, inexpensive second TV that can take almost any signal, it is a sensible choice.
