Samsung Q5F 32" QLED (QE32Q5FAAUXXU) review

Full review

The Q5F is the most complete 32-inch set in this group on paper. Samsung lists a Full HD 1920 x 1080 panel with QLED colour and Quantum HDR, which is a step up in colour from the plain LED screens that dominate this size. At 32 inches the extra pixels matter less than they do on a big screen, but text and menus look cleaner than they do on an HD Ready set.

The tuner section is practical for this part of Europe. Samsung lists a DVB-T2CS2 digital tuner, an analogue tuner and a CI slot, so an aerial or a satellite dish can both be connected directly. Smart features run on Tizen, with Bixby built in and support for Alexa and Google Assistant through separate speakers. One of the two HDMI ports supports eARC, which is useful if you add a small soundbar to improve on the 10 W speakers.

The trade-offs are typical for the size. Two HDMI ports is enough for a console and a streaming stick, but not much more. The refresh rate is 50 Hz, so it is not aimed at gaming, and Samsung does not list Dolby Vision. For a bedroom, a kitchen counter or a desk, it is a tidy and well-specified choice.
