Hisense U7S 65" ULED Mini LED (65U7STUK) review

Full review

The U7S is the easy way to get the headline gaming features without paying for an OLED. The retailer spec table lists a native 144 Hz panel, four HDMI 2.1 ports with eARC, and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro. That covers a PS5, an Xbox Series X and a PC with a 4K 120 Hz or 144 Hz output. It does not name ALLM or G-Sync, so check those if they matter to you.

Picture quality relies on a Mini LED backlight, with a stated 1400 cd/m2 brightness and Dolby Vision, Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10 and HDR10+ support. The dimming zone count is not given, so we cannot say how finely the backlight is controlled. Hisense uses the ULED name for its picture processing and the Hi-View AI Engine for upscaling, though it lists no processor model.

Sound is 2.1 channels at 20 W RMS with a built-in subwoofer, adequate for casual use. The VIDAA U9 platform covers the major streaming services and supports AirPlay 2 and Alexa. At about 19 kg with the stand, it is a manageable 65-inch set. Note that Hisense also sells a U7S Pro with a higher refresh rate, so check the model number carefully when buying.
