Hisense UR8S 85" RGB Mini LED (85UR8STUK) review

Full review

The UR8S is Hisense's more affordable RGB Mini LED, and the 85-inch version has the highest native refresh rate of the TVs on this page at 180 Hz. RGB Mini LED uses red, green and blue LEDs in the backlight instead of a white LED with a colour filter layer, which Hisense uses to deliver wider colour. The retailer lists a Hi-View AI Engine RGB processor by name only.

Gaming is where the headline numbers are strong, but the detail is thin. The listing gives four HDMI ports and a Game Mode, and the marketing text refers to a 180 Hz panel with VRR and an auto low-latency pipeline. It does not say which HDMI ports run at full speed, the HDMI version, or whether FreeSync or G-Sync are supported, so check Hisense's own page before buying if a PC is your main source.

Sound is described as a 2.1.2 multi-channel system with IMAX Enhanced audio, with no power rating given. The platform is VIDAA. The 85-inch set weighs about 40 kg with the stand and is 1890 mm wide, so it takes up serious space. Hisense lists a five-year parts and labour warranty, which is a welcome extra on such a large screen.
