Davidoff Cool Water Eau de Toilette (Man) review

Before Sauvage and Bleu, there was Cool Water. It set the template for the fresh, sea-air men's fragrance and is still one of the cheapest well-known scents you can buy in the UK and Ireland.

Davidoff's own pages do not list a note pyramid for the Eau de Toilette, so we have used a major retailer's listing: coriander and mint at the top, lavender in the heart and amber in the base. Other retailers list longer or slightly different pyramids, which is common with older fragrances. In practice it is clean, cool and herbal, like a sharper version of a good shower gel.

As a light Eau de Toilette it suits spring and summer, the gym bag and holidays rather than long formal evenings, so spray generously and keep a small bottle to hand for topping up during the day.

As a cheap summer scent or a stocking filler for someone who likes fresh fragrances, it still makes sense.
