Best QLED TVs in 2026

Updated · 5 products compared · 17 features compared

QLED TVs add a layer of quantum dots to an LCD screen, which gives brighter, more saturated colour than a standard LED set and works well in daylight. The best versions add a Mini LED backlight for better contrast and a fast panel for gaming.

We compared five QLED TVs sold in Europe, from a budget Samsung and Hisense to an 85-inch Neo QLED and a TCL Mini LED. Each pick shows its exact size and model number, because specifications differ between sizes. Prices change often, so check today's price with the buttons.

Pros

  • All four HDMI inputs listed for 4K at 144 Hz
  • Mini LED backlight with quantum dot colour
  • Samsung promises seven years of OS upgrades
  • Large 85-inch screen with a wide choice of gaming tools

Cons

  • No Dolby Vision listed
  • Built-in sound is only 30 W, so add a soundbar
  • Heavy at around 33 kg, so plan the wall mount or stand

The QN80H is Samsung's mainstream Neo QLED for 2026, and at 85 inches it is the biggest screen in this comparison. Samsung describes a Quantum Mini LED backlight combined with quantum dot colour, which is the usual recipe for a bright, saturated picture that still looks good in a daytime living room. The NQ4 AI Gen2 processor handles upscaling for the many sources that are not true 4K.

For gamers the specification is generous. Samsung lists 4K at 144 Hz on all four HDMI ports, along with variable refresh rate, Auto Game Mode, FreeSync Premium Pro and its Game Bar overlay. The page does not state the HDMI version, so we do not give one. Samsung does not list Dolby Vision, only HDR10+, which matters if you watch a lot of streaming content mastered in Dolby Vision.

Sound comes from two-channel speakers rated at 30 W RMS with Dolby Atmos processing. That is fine for casual viewing but a screen this size deserves a soundbar. It weighs about 33 kg with the stand and uses a 600 x 400 mm wall mount pattern, so check your wall and furniture before ordering. Samsung also promises seven years of operating system upgrades, which is a useful long-term reassurance.

Samsung Q7F 65" QLED (QE65Q7F)

Best for: Everyday viewing on a budget · Budget

An entry-level Samsung QLED with the Tizen smart platform, best suited to films and streaming rather than fast console gaming.

Pros

  • Quantum dot QLED picture at an entry-level tier
  • Familiar, well-supported Tizen smart platform
  • HDMI eARC for a soundbar
  • Light for a 65-inch set

Cons

  • Listed at 50 Hz, with no variable refresh rate listed
  • Only three HDMI inputs
  • Built-in sound is basic at 20 W

The Q7F is the way into Samsung's QLED range. It uses a quantum dot QLED panel at 4K and the Q4 AI Processor, which Samsung relies on for upscaling and its Quantum HDR processing. HDR support is HDR10+ rather than Dolby Vision, a common trade-off at this level.

The listing we checked gives a 50 Hz refresh rate, three HDMI inputs and Auto Game Mode (ALLM), but no variable refresh rate. That makes it a sensible choice for broadcast, streaming and films, and a poorer one for a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X where 120 Hz is the draw. If gaming matters, look at the other sets on this page.

Sound is two-channel at 20 W RMS with Object Tracking Sound Lite, and Q-Symphony lets the TV speakers work with a compatible Samsung soundbar. HDMI eARC is present for connecting that soundbar. At about 17 kg with the stand and a 400 x 300 mm wall mount pattern, it is easy to hang. The Tizen platform brings the major streaming apps, and Samsung's own free channels, in a layout many people find easy to use.

Hisense S7S 65" QLED (65S7STUK)

A low-priced QLED that still lists 144 Hz, four HDMI 2.1 ports and Dolby Vision, with a matte screen for bright rooms.

Pros

  • 144 Hz native panel with four HDMI 2.1 ports
  • Supports both Dolby Vision and HDR10+
  • Matte anti-glare screen
  • AirPlay 2 and Alexa support

Cons

  • Speaker output is only 10 W RMS
  • Processor and release year not stated
  • VIDAA has fewer apps than Google TV or Tizen

The S7S is Hisense's value QLED, and on paper it offers more than its entry-level tier suggests. The UK listing gives a native 144 Hz panel, four HDMI 2.1 ports and AMD FreeSync Premium, so it suits a games console or PC as well as general viewing. Auto Low Latency Mode is not named in the spec table we saw, but most modern consoles will still switch to their game mode.

HDR coverage is broad: Dolby Vision, Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10, HDR10+ and HLG, which is better than the Samsung sets here can offer. The screen has a Hi-Matte anti-glare finish, helpful in a bright room. Hisense uses the Hi-QLED name for its colour technology, and the page simply says QLED, so we do not claim more than that.

The weak area is sound. The speaker output is 10 W RMS in a 2.0.2 arrangement with Dolby MS12 decoding, so a soundbar is a worthwhile upgrade. The platform is VIDAA, which covers the main streaming services and supports AirPlay 2 and Alexa, though its app library is smaller than Google TV or Tizen. At around 23 kg with the stand it is heavier than some rivals, and the stand is wide at 1469 mm, so measure your unit.

TCL C7L 85" SQD-Mini LED (85C7L)
Best for brightness

TCL C7L 85" SQD-Mini LED (85C7L)

Best for: Bright rooms and big-screen sport · Upper mid-range

A bright 85-inch quantum dot Mini LED with Dolby Vision and Google TV, aimed at people who want a huge picture without a premium price.

Each shop shows its own price, currency and delivery terms. Not every shop delivers abroad, and taxes can differ.

Pros

  • Quantum dot Mini LED with Dolby Vision support
  • Google TV with a very large app library
  • Built-in subwoofer and Dolby Atmos decoding
  • 144 Hz panel with a 288 Hz game mode

Cons

  • Very large and heavy at about 37 kg with the stand
  • Dimming zone count is inconsistent across TCL's own pages
  • Only HDMI 1 and 2 are named for the fastest gaming mode

TCL's C7L pairs SQD-Mini LED, its name for a quantum dot Mini LED backlight, with an aggressive size-for-the-money approach. In 85 inches it is one of the largest screens you can buy from a mainstream brand without moving into premium territory. TCL says peak brightness reaches the HDR 3000 nits level on its 65-inch and larger sizes, so this size benefits from that.

HDR support includes Dolby Vision and Dolby Vision IQ, and the picture is processed by the TSR AiPQ engine. For gaming, TCL lists a 144 Hz native signal path, plus a 288 Hz VRR Game Accelerator on HDMI 1 and 2, with FreeSync Premium Pro and variable refresh rate. A retailer database lists ALLM and four HDMI inputs, but does not say which are HDMI 2.1.

Sound is tuned by Bang & Olufsen, with a built-in subwoofer and Dolby Atmos and DTS:X decoding. The operating system is Google TV with Gemini, which brings a large app library and voice search. At around 37 kg with the stand and a 600 x 400 mm wall mount pattern, it needs a strong wall and two people to lift. TCL's pages disagree on the dimming zone count at this size, so we leave it out.

Spec check note: TCL's UK page gave panel, brightness, processor, operating system, 144 Hz and the 288 Hz HDMI 1 and 2 note, but its specification table was cut off when we read it. HDMI count, dimensions, weight, VESA, ALLM and audio come from a specification database; the 60 W RMS figure is from that database, not TCL. TCL's page lists different dimming zone counts (1,152 and 1,624) in different places, so no zone count is given. That database also gives a 2024 release date against a 2026 year on the same page; we use 2026.

Pros

  • webOS is quick and easy to use
  • alpha 7 processor handles upscaling
  • HDMI eARC and ALLM included
  • Sensible stand and wall mount sizes

Cons

  • 60 Hz native panel, so no 120 Hz console modes
  • Dolby Vision is not listed on LG's page
  • Edge-lit backlight limits contrast compared with Mini LED

LG's QNED82 is the company's entry-level quantum-dot-style LCD, a step below its Mini LED QNED models. The page lists a 4K QNED panel with an edge backlight and local dimming, which means contrast and black levels are good for the price but cannot match a direct-lit Mini LED or an OLED. The alpha 7 AI Processor 4K Gen8 takes care of upscaling and picture tuning.

The feature that sets it apart from some budget rivals is the software. webOS 25 is quick, offers a simple home screen and a large app catalogue, and LG supports its sets with updates. The page lists HDR10 and HLG; Dolby Vision is not shown, so we do not claim it.

Gaming support is basic. The panel is 60 Hz native, with ALLM and VRR up to 60 Hz, so it works nicely for casual console play but will not give you 4K at 120 Hz. Three HDMI inputs are fitted, with eARC on HDMI 2 for a soundbar. The built-in 20 W two-channel speakers use a virtual 9.1.2 up-mix, a software effect rather than real height speakers. At about 23 kg with the stand and a 300 x 200 mm mount pattern, it is a moderate and easily handled size.

Buying guide

What QLED actually means

QLED is a marketing name for an LCD TV with a quantum dot layer. The quantum dots turn the backlight into purer red and green light, so colours look richer and the screen can reach high brightness. It is still an LCD, so each pixel does not produce its own light the way an OLED does.

Brands use different names: Samsung calls its best sets Neo QLED, TCL uses SQD-Mini LED, Hisense uses Hi-QLED and LG uses QNED. Look at the backlight type, not only the label.

Backlight type decides contrast

Edge-lit sets such as the entry-level LG and Samsung Q7F place LEDs at the screen edge, which is fine for everyday viewing but gives weaker contrast. Direct-lit and Mini LED sets use many more dimming zones, so dark scenes look deeper and bright highlights stand out. Mini LED is the biggest picture upgrade within QLED, and it is what the Samsung QN80H and TCL C7L use.

Gaming: check the refresh rate and ports

For PS5, Xbox Series X or a PC, look for a 120 Hz or 144 Hz panel, HDMI 2.1 ports, variable refresh rate and Auto Low Latency Mode. Not every HDMI port on every set runs at full speed, so check which ports are the fast ones. Entry-level QLEDs, including the Samsung Q7F and LG QNED82 here, are listed at 50 or 60 Hz.

HDR and size

Dolby Vision is supported by the Hisense, TCL and many LG sets, while Samsung uses HDR10+ instead. If your streaming service uses Dolby Vision, that is worth knowing. For size, a bigger screen costs relatively little extra in QLED, but check the room, wall mount pattern and weight before ordering an 85-inch set.

Frequently asked questions

Is QLED better than OLED?

Neither is better in every way. QLED TVs are usually brighter, which helps in sunny rooms and with HDR highlights, and they carry no burn-in risk. OLED TVs have perfect blacks and wider viewing angles, and are better for dark-room film watching.

What is the difference between QLED and Neo QLED?

Neo QLED is Samsung's name for QLED with a Mini LED backlight. The much smaller LEDs allow far more dimming zones, so contrast and brightness are better than on a standard QLED.

Is QLED good for gaming?

Yes, if you choose the right model. Look for a 120 Hz or 144 Hz panel, HDMI 2.1, VRR and ALLM, as on the Samsung QN80H and TCL C7L. Entry-level QLEDs with a 50 or 60 Hz panel are fine for casual play but not for 4K at 120 Hz.

Does QLED suffer from screen burn-in?

QLED screens use an LCD panel with a backlight, so they do not suffer from permanent burn-in the way OLED screens can. Static logos can still leave temporary image retention on some panels, but it normally fades.
